Films aren't meant to manipulate you into feeling something,
but simply call back what was already felt.

My Filming Style

I exist to serve the Art;
the Art exists to serve your story.

I believe that your wedding day is a window of time carved out for you & your people to gather and celebrate a once in a lifetime love.

Now if that ain’t a party!

The secret ingredient to my work that I don't mind sharing is this: I take the risk of letting go of control and allow myself to simply document two people in love as it plays out right in front of me. My approach to filming leans into the real, spontaneous, raw celebration of your day as it's happening in real time, and the couples I work with appreciate this change of pace from the typical .

When watching your film back, my goal isn’t to manipulate you into feeling something, but simply remind you of what the day truly felt like.

It's something that never loses its magic, simply because it's real. And the best part is, I’m not the author of this story - you are! This is the finest form of collaboration imho, and this is what makes each of my films as unique as the weddings they represent.

The Experience

A Calm Presence

I still find it absolutely surreal to be invited into the intimate spaces of one of the most magical days of peoples' lives. This phenomenon is not lost on me, so my first and foremost priority is always to respect the truth and beauty of these spaces. This is the day you’ve dreamt of your entire life! What the videographer is or isn't doing shouldn't make the list of notable wedding day memories.

You can expect me to be a steady soul, celebrating alongside you calmly and sincerely. I arrive dressed as one of your guests, blending into the crowd without (literally) making a scene.

An important ingredient to all of this is connection! From the initial call to delivering the final cut, my process feels more like sharing art between friends than something simply transactional. I strive to get to know my couples as much on a personal level as I can, so that by the time your wedding day comes I'll feel more like just another friend in the crowd.

(genuine) Authenticity

I believe that all good art is authentic in the truest sense; the real, the messy, the unfocused, and the vulnerable (which my dear friend Madeleine L'Engle has a thing or two to say about). From this perspective my job is fairly straightforward - the real art that's happening here is you, the couple. I'm merely the medium used to document it.

This means I won't be ticking off boxes on a shot list or posing you in endless ways or doing the pretend-getting-ready thing; I aim to capture the real, beautiful, fluttery, messy, organic moments found even in the unlikeliest of places, many of which go unnoticed, weaving your story together in a way that’s truest to you. When a couple trusts my creative process, it allows them to simply exist on their wedding day and (kinda) forget the videographer was ever even there.

The Adventure Session

Strolling through your favorite park; walking down the beach where you said ‘I love you’ for the first time; hiking to your engagement spot. It could be anything! The adventure session is a wonderful addition to your story-on-film for a few reasons:

First (and most selfishly for me), it's a chance to get some hella good shots of you as a couple. Can you say golden hour?

But more importantly, it’s a quiet opportunity away from the bustle of wedding week to steal a moment of time and simply exist with each other in a place that's special to you. I take pride in the fact that my films are so much more than a mere chronological documentation of how your wedding day unfolds; I want to make a film that shares the story of your love itself.

About Me

Hello! I'm David Walker 👋

Something that continues to come up in conversation between my wife and I is the term ‘pinballing.’ My vocational journey (and let’s be real, my own personal journey) is more akin to the trajectory of a pinball than any sort of cohesive narrative. It took me a while to fully trust that this is OK, and now when I look back on all the curveballs that led me to where I am, I prefer the story I’m living over anything else. But throughout life’s changes, there has indeed been one constant: my inclination to make something using beautiful images.

I’ve had a camera in hand ever since getting the Lego Movie Maker kit for Christmas when I was like 9 years old, and although I’d like to think that my film quality has improved somewhat since then, that whimsical spark of imagination never really left and I’m always curious to see how that side of me comes out in my work.

Rapid fire: I’m crazy about my wife Rin of 5 years. We’re both crazy about our baby boy. We have a Goldendoodle named Hazel with DNA of 1% wolfiness (which is high fyi) so she’s a little nuts. I love the mountains and I love snowboarding. I'm a self proclaimed amateur cinephile and yet I've still never seen Die Hard or Mulholland Drive. I’m an enneagram 9 so I’m naturally go-with-the-flow, but don’t let that fool you - I’ve got a strong wing 8 when I get fired up about something! I’m an introvert, but people always seem surprised by that... so I’m an extroverted-introvert I guess. I grew up in the Blue Ridge Mountains and was raised on a healthy diet of The Killers, Jimi Hendrix, and Appalachian sacred harp singers. (And if you weren’t familiar with sacred harp singing before this, you’re welcome.)
